USB-Link Troubleshooting Procedure

USB-Link, USB-Link 2, and USB-Link 3 Troubleshooting Procedure

  1. Open the NEXIQ Device Tester.
Go through each drop-down menu one at a time and click Test for each selection.

  2. Verify data communication.
Confirm that you are receiving data on:

    • J1708

    • J1939 Channel 1

    • J1939 Channel 2

  3. Important:
If you are not receiving data in the Device Tester, you will not receive data in any program that uses the USB-Link.

Basic Checks

  • Bypass any electronic driver log (if applicable).

  • Ensure the vehicle key is in the ON position.

  • Replace the USB cable between the laptop and the NEXIQ adapter.

  • Check (pin out) the 6-pin or 9-pin vehicle diagnostic port to verify proper voltage and signal at the connector.

  • Make sure that you have the correct driver install for your adapter.

  • Cloned USBLINK2 adapters use the original USBLINK driver. If you need this drive email us HeavyTruckSoftware@gmail.com
